Meet Alanah
I grew up in the Ottawa Valley and have now made Arnprior my home with my husband and two daughters. I have been a Registered Massage Therapist for over a decade and have loved being able to support my clients through the growth of their families, which has led me to focus my work on clients in the perinatal period. I love being able to approach babywearing education both from the standpoint of a mother of two young children, as well as an experienced RMT to assess the way babywearing can affect both the parent and baby’s bodies.
I developed an interest in babywearing after the birth of my first daughter, quickly realizing the many benefits it has in terms of ergonomics as well as giving me the ability to have my hands free while still continuing to bond with my child. We still use babywearing today as a regulation tool for her, or to carry her home from long plays at the park!
The postpartum period after the birth of my second child was a very challenging one, during which I realized babywearing actually supported my mental health more than I knew this time around. After this, I committed to sharing these benefits with others in similar situations which has led me to becoming a Certified Baby Wearing Educator.
When I’m not knee-deep in babywearing content or doing crafts on the couch while watching Jeopardy! or the NFL, I like to spend time with my family outdoors, preferably hiking or camping.
